Transportation Workers Occupational risk from transportation incidents is often overlooked in safety analyses. The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics collects data using the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries. These data classify occupational deaths by event or type of exposure, one of which is “transportation incidents.” Transportation incidents are further classified into three additional levels of detail (e.g., highway incident/noncollision/jackknifed vehicle).
